This is a starting draft. Have it reviewed before launch.
What we store
- Account: your email, optional name and a salted, hashed password. We never see or store your actual password.
- Designs you save: the settings and traced outlines, so you can reopen them. Not your photos.
- A session cookie that keeps you logged in.
- Your profile, if you fill it in: username, bio, links, the printers you own and your generator preferences.
- A device cookie holding a random ID, so we can count visitors without an account. It is not shared with anyone and is not used for advertising.
What we measure
To see what people make and improve the generators, we record:
- pages you visit, and the site that sent you here;
- when you generate, download, save or share a model, with its settings (sizes, options, printer and file format);
- your IP address, and whether you are on a phone;
- once per visit, what you are browsing with: browser, operating system, graphics card name, screen size, time zone and language (so the 3D engine can be tested on what people really use);
- how long a model took to build and any errors your browser hit, with the settings involved, so we can fix them.
Live help
While the generator is open, the settings you are working on are held in memory on our server for about a minute and a half. Mint Motive support staff can look at them live to help you or find a bug. This is not stored, and every time staff look it is recorded in our audit log.
What is public
If you share a model to the community, its title, description, tags, picture and settings are public, along with your username, display name, bio, links, badges and points. Comments you post are public. Your email address is never shown.
Signing in with Google, Microsoft or Discord
We receive your name, email address and an account ID from them, and nothing else. With Discord we also check whether you are in the Mint Motive Discord server, to give you the member role.
Messages
Messages sent through the contact form are stored so we can reply, and emailed to the Mint Motive team.
These records stay on our server. We don't sell them or share them with advertisers or other third parties. The site owner can look at them in an admin panel and download them.
Blocking abuse
We can block an account, an email address, an IP address or range, or a device ID if someone abuses the site. Only the site owner can do this.
Photos
Tool tracing runs in your browser. Your photo is not uploaded unless you press Run for AI labelling; then a reduced, straightened copy of the paper is sent to our server and to Anthropic's Claude API to name the tools, and is not stored by us.
Once a week an AI steward sends Anthropic's Claude API a summary of community activity to check that awards are fair and to spot new storage ecosystems: totals, model titles, tags and anonymous numbers in place of makers. It never includes emails, IP addresses, device IDs or anything you have not shared publicly.
Build log photos are resized in your browser before they are sent, and the server removes camera metadata from them (such as the GPS location a phone adds), so a photo of your garage does not reveal where your garage is. Photos you upload but never post are deleted after a day.
Your choices
You can change your details or delete your account, and every design with it, from your account page at any time.
