Yes. Every generator, every download and every file format is free. Donations keep the site running, and a membership may add extras later, but the core tools stay free.

No. You can design and download without one. An account lets you save designs, share them in the community, keep your printers and preferences, and follow other makers.

Mint Motive's own generator, for our own system, MotiveMesh. You pick an Aura (the Paddock for sim rigs and garages, the Studio for desks, the Galley for kitchens) and the filament you will print in, and it builds the part for that material. Strong filaments like ASA or carbon-fibre blends get an open lattice skeleton that uses far less plastic; PLA and PETG keep solid walls. Open MotiveMorph or read how MotiveMesh works.

Yes. MotiveMesh is an open standard in the public domain (CC0). The specification, design brief, design guidelines, reference drawings and models, and the MotiveMorph generator are all free to use, change and sell, with no permission and no credit needed. If your part meets the specification you can call it MotiveMesh compatible.

A modular desk unit in MotiveMorph with a front that leans back so everything is easy to see and reach. Pick the Paddock for tools (open lattice with dividers), the Studio for a tidy desk (an organiser faceplate for cards and pens, or a window) or the Galley for the kitchen (rounded cubbies). It prints in parts with no supports, and pods link side by side into one long unit.

Every tile has a socket at each 30 mm node, a round hole with two slots. Push a pin through your accessory and the tile with its lugs lined up with the slots, then turn it a quarter turn: the lugs sit behind the tile and it locks with no rattle. Pins print head down with no supports. Studio parts can use hidden 6 × 2 mm magnets instead.

A live 3D map of VERTEX. Each maker is a point and each connection (a follow, a comment, a forum reply, printing someone's model, adding it to a repository) is a line between two people. It only uses what is already public on profiles and model pages. Explore The Mesh and find yourself on it.

Yes, if you are signed in: downloads are shared to VERTEX, the community, so everyone benefits. Turn off Share to VERTEX next to Download to keep a part private. You can unshare anything later from My designs.

Any whole or half number of grid units wide and deep (1.5 × 2 works), and any height in 7 mm units or in millimetres. Admins may set a maximum size to keep the site fast.

Use Easy reach: a scoop curves the floor into the wall on the front, front and back, or every side, and a finger notch cuts into the front wall. Lower dividers help too.

Yes. Add a label shelf, then type one label per compartment. The text is a separate part in the 3MF, so you can give it a second filament colour. Shelves can go on the left, middle, right or full width, at the back or front, and their undersides are angled so they print without supports. For labels you can move, use the clip-on labels in Extras.

Yes. Movable dividers puts slots in the walls, and the download includes the plates. Add more slots than plates to have more places to put them. Plates that cross each other interlock like an egg crate.

It lets a bin sit on top of another, the same way it sits on a baseplate. Nothing inside a bin rises into the lip, so stacked bins never collide.

Hollow feet and a thin floor, using about half the plastic. Good for light parts. Lite bins cannot have magnet holes.

Choose Split to fit my printer and pick your printer. The plate is cut into the fewest tiles that fit your bed, as evenly as possible, and the generator tells you exactly how many clips to print. See the printer pages for the biggest single plate each printer can make.

Turn on Fill the gap to the drawer walls and the border is added to the plate, or printed as separate spacer strips. You can also leave it off, and put the grid in the centre or against any side.

Frame is the classic open plate. Lite is a light lattice that can be joined with clips. Solid has a bottom layer for magnet holes, weight pockets or screw holes to fix it to a wall or drawer.

Batteries (AA to D, 9 V, 18650, 21700, coin cells), hex bits, SD and microSD cards, pens, pencils, markers, brushes, glue sticks, drill bits, tweezers, craft knives, pliers, needle files, router bits, solder wick, flux syringes and pens, solder tubes, T12 tips, jumper wires, magnets, dev boards and breadboards. Choose Custom for anything else.

Yes, with a set: drill bits, metric and SAE hex keys, and ¼" and ⅜" sockets are built in, or type your own sizes. The size is printed next to each pocket. Sockets and bits vary between brands, so measure yours and adjust.

Holder → Jumper wires makes comb slots that keep Dupont wires sorted by length. For bundles or cables, use a bin with movable dividers.

Stand boards on edge in slots to fit many in one bin, or lay one flat in a tray. Turn on the stacking lip and the trays stack on each other.

Yes. The Skådis Studio, kept separate from the Gridfinity generators, makes J-hooks, shelves, tool holders with holes, trays with dividers, a shelf that holds a Gridfinity baseplate, printable pegboard panels and a fit test. Print the fit test first: it should drop in with a light push. Parts print on their side so the hooks are strong. SKÅDIS is IKEA's; Mint Motive is not affiliated with IKEA.

Set Pockets to Thin walls only: a thin tube around each pocket instead of a solid block.

6 × 2 mm neodymium disc magnets (6 mm across, 2 mm thick). The holes are 6.5 mm across and 2.4 mm deep. N35 to N52 all work; stronger ones hold bins more firmly. You need up to four per foot, or four per bin with Only the four outer corners.

Not with crush ribs: small ribs in each hole grip the magnet as you press it in. Keep the same pole facing up on every bin and the opposite pole on every baseplate, or bins will push away.

Holder → 6 × 2 mm magnets (stacked) makes tubes that hold a stack each.

M3 screws for the bin feet (holes 3 mm across, 6 mm deep). Wall-mounting holes on solid baseplates fit common wood screws; pick countersunk or counterbored to match the head.

0.2 mm layers, 2 to 3 walls and 10 to 15% infill work well for bins. PLA and PETG are both fine. See the printing section of the guide for more.

No. Every model here is designed to print without supports, including label shelves and clip-on labels.

Printers differ. Try a different elephant's foot compensation in your slicer first. If a site-wide change is needed, the admins can adjust the fit clearance for everyone.

3MF for Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer and Cura: it keeps every part and its colour in one file. STL for anything else. OBJ for Blender and CAD programs. ZIP gives every part as its own file with a read-me.

Parts like label text and size numbers are separate objects in the 3MF, each set to its own filament. In Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer they arrive on filament 2, ready for an AMS. You can change the colours before downloading.

Yes, through your slicer. Send to slicer opens the model in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer, PrusaSlicer or Cura on your computer, with the parts and colours set up. Printers need a sliced file (G-code) made for your exact printer and filament, so the slicer does that step and sends it on to your printer, whether that is over Bambu's cloud or LAN, Prusa Connect, OctoPrint or Klipper.

Yes. Download OBJ or STL and import it: Blender opens them directly, Fusion and Inventor import them as mesh bodies. An IPT file is Autodesk's own format that only Inventor can write, so it cannot be made in a browser. For full parametric CAD, the guide links to open-source CAD versions of Gridfinity.

Yes, when the buttons are shown on the log-in page. You can also connect them later from your account page.

Join the Mint Motive Discord, then sign in (or connect) with Discord. The site checks you are in the server, adds a Discord badge to your profile and gives you the member role there.

Yes. On your account page, add the printers you own and pick a favourite, your usual file format and slicer, and starting settings for each generator. They load every time you open the generator.

Account → Two-factor. Scan the code with any authenticator app (Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, Authy), type the code, and keep the recovery codes somewhere safe.

Save it, open My designs, and press Share to community. Add a description and tags so people can find it; the picture is made for you.

Sharing a model earns 10, each like on your models 2, each comment you post 1 (up to 20 a day) and each comment you receive 1. A promoted model earns 50 and model of the month 200. Spend 100 points to sponsor any model, yours or someone else's, at the top of the community for a week.

Your own collections of models, like playlists: a workbench, an electronics drawer, a full toolbox. Make them public to share the whole set, and star other people's.

Automatically. Every Monday and on the 1st of the month the site works out a Community Score for each model that got attention: likes, downloads, people commenting and adds to other people's repositories. The top score wins winner of the week or month, and the maker who earned the most points wins maker of the month. See the leaderboard for the details.

It is hard. Liking your own model counts for nothing, likes from brand-new devices count for less, and a pile of likes in one hour gets damped. Last period's winner starts with a small handicap so wins get spread around. An AI steward also checks the voting each week and suggests changes to the team.

Milestones give themselves: your first share, 5, 25 and 100 models, likes, downloads, followers, comments and curating a repository. Winners get their own badges, and the team gives some by hand. Many come with points and a Discord role. The full list is on the leaderboard.

They show who runs Mint Motive. The owner runs the site, admins look after it, and moderators keep the community friendly. If someone claims to be staff without the tag, they are not.

Yes, the VERTEX Forum. Ask for printing help, share work in progress, suggest features and talk shop. Posts from the Mint Motive team are highlighted, and Straight from Mint Motive on the right lists everything the team has said. Formatting: **bold**, *italic*, `code`, > quotes, - lists, and @name to mention someone.

Proof it works in real life. Press I made this on a model you printed, add photos of it where it lives and what you printed it with, and it shows on the model page and the Showcase. You earn points, the designer earns points and hears about it, and builds count strongly towards the weekly and monthly awards.

Two ways. The Community Score picks the most-loved model of each month automatically, and the Mint Motive team can also crown a favourite. Both get a badge here and a role on Discord.

Yes. Everything made with this site and everything shared to the community is public domain (CC0). Read the community and open-source policy.

No. When you share a model here you release it to the public domain, so everyone can use it. The Mint Motive name and logo are the only things that are not free to reuse.
